Jean-François Primeau is a composer of instrumental, electronic and electroacoustic music, music for the screen, sound art, and interactive sound installation. He studied music at Université de Montréal and at De Montfort University in England. He completed a master’s degree in composition and sonic creation at Université de Montréal in 2017 under the guidance of Nicolas Bernier. In 2016, he received the Student Success Award from the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies at the Université de Montréal.
His current interests include technological creative approaches, algorithmic systems, immersive media, as well as modes of interactivity in the arts. A desire to make music creation accessible to non-musicians is also a strong motivation for his work. These themes where the main focus of lectures he gave at international conferences in Toronto and Dublin.
