
Jean-François Primeau is a composer of instrumental, electronic and electroacoustic music, music for the screen, sound art, and interactive sound installation. He is also an interactive integrator, programmer, technologist and educator. He studied music at Université de Montréal and at De Montfort University in England. He completed a master’s degree in interactive composition and sonic creation at Université de Montréal in 2017 under the guidance of Nicolas Bernier.
His current interests include technological creative approaches, algorithmic systems, immersive media, as well as modes of interactivity in the arts. A desire to make music creation accessible to non-musicians is also a strong motivation for his work. He strongly believes increased agency leads to enhanced enjoyment.
